Nikon Japan announces that the market launch of the D500 DSLR has been postponed until the end of April. The high-end camera with aps-c sensor was announced at CES in early January and was initially expected to hit the market in March.

Nikon states that it is not feasible to supply enough copies of the Nikon D500 for an introduction in March. As a result, the SLR, the Wi-Fi transmitter, battery grip and other associated accessories will only be available on the market in Japan, the manufacturer’s home country, at the end of April.

The Nikon D500 is the long-awaited successor to the D300s. The device is equipped with a new 20.9-megapixel sensor in the aps-c format and an Expeed 5 image processor. The camera shoots at up to 10fps and can record videos in 4k resolution. The autofocus system has 153 focus points. In the Benelux, the camera will cost 2369 euros separately and a kit with 16-80 mm f/2.8-4E lens will be available for 3389 euros.
