Intel hints at 2025 release for graphics cards with Druid-generation Arc GPU
If everything goes according to plan, video cards with an Arc GPU of the Druid generation could appear in 2025, Intel hints. Druid is the fourth and final GPU that Intel has announced on its roadmap.
Intel’s ARC Community Advocate suggests that cards with Druid GPUs could appear in 2025. With this he responds to a joke from a user that by then an RTX 6090 Super with TDP of 800W may be on the market. According to VideoCardz, the comment of Intel’s ARC ambassador should be taken with a grain of salt, but based on the roadmap, 2025 was already taken into account as the year in which the GPU would appear.
That roadmap, which Intel published earlier this year, contains four generations of separate GPUs that the company is developing. Alchemist should be released early next year, in the first quarter for laptops, in the second quarter for desktops. That is then the only GPU whose introduction date is fixed. That of the rest is unknown, but according to rumors, Intel wants to introduce a new generation every year. Intel’s CEO of the Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics Group, Raja Koduri, promised to announce more about the plans shortly.
Alchemist’s successors are Battlemage and Celestial. Intel makes it on the Xe HPG architecture. The fourth generation is Druid, with Intel deploying a new GPU architecture. Intel previously announced that the name of Druid’s successor is probably starts with an E.
