Uber founder leaves company permanently and sells all shares
Uber founder Travis Kalanick is leaving the company for good. He had not been CEO since 2017, but he was still a member of the Board of Directors. He also sold all his shares in the company.
Kalanick will leave the company that offers taxi rides in an app next week, the company announced. “Uber was part of my life for ten years. At the end of the decade and with the company now listed, it seemed like the right time to start focusing on my current business and my philanthropic plans,” said the founder.
The founder and former director had to leave as CEO in 2017 because of the scandals surrounding the company that year. He received a lot of criticism for ignored reports of, among other things, sexual harassment within his company. Many employees also complained about the corporate culture at Uber, which was partly created by Kalanick. CNBC reports that he is also selling all of his stock and that the founder is cutting ties with the company.
