Microsoft Defender with new look and central management appears in Store
Microsoft Defender gets several options on Windows that were previously available for enterprise. For example, the security software gets data breach detection and protection against phishing, and home users can manage multiple devices in their own network.
The changes may come in a future version codenamed Gibraltar, which is now being tested in preview. In that software there are several strings that indicate new features for the software, discovered developer Ahmed Walid, who viewed the executable. The new version of the software allows users to see the status of multiple devices. According to BleepingComputer, these can be added via emails or QR codes. Then those devices on a network can be centrally managed.
The new software gives administrators an overview of the security of multiple devices. In addition to warnings for malware infections, this would also contain warnings for data leaks in the software, and protection against identity theft, although it is not known how it works.
It was previously known that Microsoft would also give the Defender software a visual update. This has also been implemented in the preview. The appearance is therefore more in line with Windows 11, although the software can also be used on Windows 10. It is not yet known when the tool will be definitively available to Windows Insiders.
