Twitter closes leak in Android app that could be used to hijack accounts
Twitter had to deal with a security issue that made it possible to hijack accounts. The issue has since been fixed, and Twitter says it has no evidence that it was misused.
On his privacy blog reports Twitter said the vulnerability was recently fixed, but few details are given about what exactly was going on. According to the social media website, a complex process allowed malicious code to be added to the Twitter application for Android, after which malicious users could take over accounts. Twitter has also sent a message to its users, informing them of the vulnerability.
Incidentally, Twitter emphasizes that there is no evidence that the vulnerability was actually exploited. The company states that it wants to take precautions, and that for this reason it is informing everyone. Users are advised to update the Twitter application for Android to the latest version if not already done so.
