The next Call of Duty game is again about the Second World War, reports Eurogamer, among others. However, another site, Modern Warzone, reports that the game may have an alternate history, with WW2 continuing into the 1950s.

According to Eurogamer, the game will be called Call of Duty: Vanguard, although fansite Modern Warzone claims based on its sources that it is a working title. Modern Warzone’s claim that it may be an alternative history, or the Korean War, is also something that Eurogamer contradicts on the basis of its sources. Modern Warzone further states that Sledgehammer Games, one of the three regular Call of Duty developers, is behind this game. Eurogamer says nothing about that.

The first Call of Duty game to be released after battle royale variant Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, was also integrated into Warzone. Cross-progression came and unlocks in Black Ops Cold War could also be used in Warzone. According to Modern Warzone, the same will happen with Vanguard.

Vanguard would be the second WW2 Call of Duty game in a short time. The previous game that was in that era, Call of Duty: WWII, came out in 2017. Something concrete is known about the release date of the new Call of Duty game; Publisher Activision announced in February that the game should be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
