FCC Approval of Ubiquiti Digital Doorbell Appears

Ubiquiti will probably come with a digital doorbell in the UniFi Protect series. That appears to be from an FCC inspection of a Ubiquiti UniFi G4 Doorbell. The brand already sells security cameras with accompanying software. The product may be announced later this year.

The FCC approval of Ubiquiti’s G4 Doorbell appeared on December 10, 9to5toys discovered. Few details are currently known about the alleged doorbell. Current security cameras in the UniFi Protect G4 series have a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. The doorbell may have a similar sensor and resolution.

It’s also not yet clear whether the G4 Doorbell will have Power over Ethernet support, which will power the doorbell directly over Ethernet via a PoE switch or injector. This would possibly simplify installation and also offers a more stable connection than WiFi. Currently, Ring is already selling a PoE doorbell. At the time of writing, it costs about five hundred euros. Based on the FCC approval, the doorbell seems to use existing wiring in any case. The doorbell also seems to work with voltages between 16V and 24V. This is similar to other digital doorbells, including Ring’s.

Earlier, there were already FCC approvals of a WiFi 6 ap from Ubiquiti. Less than two weeks later that product was officially released. The company will probably present the G4 Doorbell this month. It is still unclear if and when exactly this will happen. Nothing is known about the price yet.
