Google has started making incognito mode available for Maps on iOS. The arrival of this mode was announced in October and more than a month ago the function was already available on Android.

Google reports that it started on Monday to make incognito mode for Maps available to iOS users. It is a gradual release, so not everyone may be able to use it immediately. Users can enable incognito mode by clicking their profile picture at the top right of the app and selecting the feature there.

Once users activate the mode, the places users search for will not be saved to their Google account. Personalized functions will also be absent, such as restaurant recommendations based on previously visited eateries. With incognito mode, the phone will not update its location history, so the places visited will not be saved to the timeline.

The function works the same as on Android devices; Android users have been able to use Incognito mode since early November. This mode has been available for some time in the Chrome web browser, YouTube and in the Google search function.
