Symantec has released the sixth maintenance pack for its Endpoint Encryption products, bringing the version number to 8.2.1 MP6. Endpoint Encryption consists of two flavors that can be used together: Full Disk and Removable Storage. The first focuses on encrypting a system’s internal hard drives; the second focuses on encrypting data stored on a removable storage medium, such as a USB drive or CD/DVD. Resolved Issues in Symantec Endpoint Encryption 8.2.1 MP6

Full Disk

  • 2827409 – Resolved an issue on HP EliteBook 8440p Notebooks with SEE Full Disk installed so that no error message appears for non-token users.
  • 2939399 – Users can now access and authenticate to encrypted drives with the SEE Full Disk Access Utility using the command line.
  • 2981573 – Resolved an incompatibility with the storage controller using the IDE mode on the HP EliteBook 2170p systems.
  • 2981665 – Resolved an issue so that users no longer receive a blue screen error on booting when the drive controller is set to AHCI on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 system with SEE Full Disk installed.
  • 3014016 – Resolved the issue so that Sony VAIO SVE11115ENB systems successfully boot after the installation of SEE Full Disk.
  • 3014030 – Resolved the issue so that Sony VAIO SVT13113ENS systems successfully boot after the installation of SEE Full Disk.
  • 3015047 – Resolved an issue so that the Autologon policy works properly when the end time for pre-boot authentication bypass is set to cross midnight.
  • 3047718 – Resolved an issue that prevented users from booting successfully into Microsoft Windows after authentication on HP ProBook 6465b.
  • 3083724 – Resolved an issue so that SEE Full Disk uses optimal time to encrypt a partition on systems that use Advanced Format drives with the “Include unused disk space when encrypting” policy set to “No.”
  • 2941534 – Resolved an incompatibility with the storage controller using the IDE mode on the HP EliteBook 2570p systems.
  • 2949413 – Resolved an issue that prevented a user from authenticating at SEE Full Disk pre-boot on HP Compaq Pro 6300 Microtower PC (with Intel Core i3) systems running in IDE mode.

Removable Storage

  • 2898352 – Resolved an issue so that the SEE Removable Storage Access Utility no longer gets deleted from the USB drive when the drive is connected to a system running SEE Removable Storage with the “Do not encrypt files” policy enabled for new files.
  • 2902484 – Users no longer receive a blue screen error when they try to view the properties of an inserted SanDisk flash drive.
  • 2918151 – Resolved an issue so that users can access the files copied onto a USB device when that device is re-inserted into a computer on which the Trend Micro antivirus software and SEE Removable Storage (with the Default Session Password policy enabled) are both installed .
  • 3004207 – Resolved an issue so that files are not corrupted on a system running SEE Removable Storage and Microsoft System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection (previously Forefront Endpoint Protection) when a user performs On-Demand Decryption of files on an NTFS removable storage device.
  • 3068952 – Resolved an issue with SEE Removable Storage running on Microsoft Windows 7 systems so that the View backups button is now enabled, allowing users to view the last backup available on a removable storage device.
  • 3095090, 3100676, 3065420 – Resolved an SEE Removable Storage compatibility issue with ActivClient (CAC) software and McAfee Host Instrusion Prevention for Desktop so that files can be encrypted and accessed on a USB device.

  • 2849173 – Resolved an issue so that the PIV card/smartcard reader and the USB-attached keyboard function properly during pre-boot authentication on HP 8470p computers.

Removable Storage

  • NBN – Resolved incompatibility issues when both SEE Removable Storage and Symantec Drive Encryption are installed on the same system. Removable devices are now managed by SEE Removable Storage.
  • 2672303 – Symantec Drive Encryption no longer encrypts USB flash drives when SEE Removable Storage is installed.
  • 2701174 – Resolved an issue so that SEE Removable Storage does not encrypt new files written to the system drive (C:) attached to an eSATA interface and no longer treats the system drive as an external removable drive.
  • 2824540 – Resolved an issue so that users no longer receive a blue screen error on a Microsoft Windows 7 system with SEE Removable Storage and Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 installed when they perform On Demand Encryption of files on an NTFS removable storage device.
  • 2824603 – Resolved an issue so that the files with a size of more than 22 MB that are downloaded directly to the removable storage device no longer get corrupted.
  • 2824612 – Resolved an issue so that the shortcut menu of regedit.exe appears properly.
