Rumor: Apple will combine subscriptions in a bundle in 2020
Apple is preparing to combine several of its services into a bundle in 2020. That claims financial news agency Bloomberg. This will include News+, TV+ and Music.
Apple will probably charge less for the bundle than it gets for the services separately, Bloomberg says. Details about the bundle are not yet known. Apple has not commented on the rumor. However, director Tim Cook hinted at the arrival of a hardware subscription.
In addition to News+, TV+ and Music, Apple also has other services, such as paid iCloud storage and Arcade game service. It is unknown which of those services would end up in the bundle. Bloomberg derives the information from a new version of Apple’s agreement with publishers. It states that the company may also offer its services in a bundle.
Competitor Amazon combines its services in the Prime subscription, which has closed a large part of American households. Until now, Apple has not combined the services, although buyers of new hardware do receive a free TV+ subscription for a year.
