Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Won’t Come to Wii U
The shooter Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will not be released on Wii U, although two previous CoD games were playable on the Nintendo console. So says a co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, which develops Advanced Warfare.
The Sledgehammer Games founder won’t say why Advanced Warfare won’t be released for Wii U, but will only let go that it is a decision by publisher Activision, according to his tweet. Black Ops II and Ghosts from the CoD franchise have been released on Nintendo’s console in recent years. As a result, it was expected that Advanced Warfare would also be playable on the Wii U, although the announcement did not mention a Wii U version.
One possible explanation would be that past CoD releases had little sales success on the Nintendo console. The Wii U is aimed at a different audience than the consoles from Microsoft and Sony, so the cost of a Wii U version might be too high compared to the benefits. In addition, the console has had little sales success in recent times, so the number of potential buyers of a Wii U version will not be much higher than in the past year. An E3 site reported in June that the new Call of Duty game would be released on Wii U.
Actvision announced CoD: Advanced Warfare in May, and Sledgehammer first showed its multiplayer mode a week and a half ago. The game will be released on November 4 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
