Rumor: GTA Trilogy Remaster is in development and will be released later this year
Rockstar Games is said to be in the final stages of development to release a remaster of three Grand Theft Auto titles. Kotaku spoke to several sources confirming the arrival of a remaster.
Kotaku cannot yet confirm which titles are involved. Three different sources have reported the arrival of a remaster of three GTA classics to the medium. Recently, there have been many rumors about a possible remaster of the three PlayStation 2 titles: GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. According to the site, the sources have previously leaked reliable information about GTA Online and Red Dead Online.
For the remasters, the Unreal Engine will be used and both the graphics and the UI will be updated. The new look of the games would be a mix of ‘old and new graphics’. The remaster is said to be in the final stages of development and should be released this fall. The remaster should be released for “various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.” Rockstar declined to respond to questions from Kotaku about the rumours.
Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two, had several GTA mods taken offline earlier this year. With the mods, parts of the world from older GTA games could be loaded into newer titles, among other things.
