WhatsApp has added a dark mode for the latest beta version. There have been rumors since 2018 that the messaging app would get such a dark theme, but until now there was little concrete in that area.

The website WABetainfo reports that WhatsApp has released a new update through its Google Play Beta Program. Users who want to try the dark mode should update WhatsApp to Android beta version 2.20.13, otherwise the mode may not be usable. Among other things, WABetainfo is committed to getting information about new WhatsApp features by analyzing beta versions.

Beta users can enable dark mode by browsing WhatsApp’s settings and selecting dark mode when choosing a theme. Once this mode is selected, many colors will take on darker tones, but not everything will be completely black.

Other apps from Facebook, such as Instagram and Messenger, have also previously received a dark mode on Android. In addition, for example, the YouTube app for Android already received such a mode in 2018 and WhatsApp alternative Telegram has also had a night mode for some time.
