‘Cheaper new iPhone could be released in March’

Apple is rumored to be making a new, relatively inexpensive iPhone, and according to Bloomberg, this phone could be available as early as March. The news agency reports this on the basis of unnamed sources.

According to the sources, Apple plans to start mass production of the new cheaper iPhone in February, Bloomberg writes, citing sources that are familiar with this plan. Production would be split between Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron. A person who would know Apple’s schedule indicated that the Cupertino company is expected to unveil the new phone in March.

This new phone would be more or less the spiritual successor of the iPhone SE and would have a 4.7″ screen, which is less compact than the original iPhone SE with its 4″ screen. The new device would get a Touch ID fingerprint scanner, but without Face ID. Furthermore, the A13-soc of the iPhone 11 would end up in the new phone and the design should match that of the iPhone 8. This is largely data that Bloomberg reported about earlier. It has asked Apple for comment, but the Cupertino company declined to comment.

In October last year, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the iPhone SE 2, as he called the upcoming new phone, will get an A13 soc and will be released in the first quarter of this year. He also spoke about a housing that corresponds to the iPhone 8. The iPhone SE cost 489 euros for the 16GB version when it was released in 2016. It is not clear how much Apple’s new phone will cost.
