Rumor: Remasters of almost all Super Mario games are coming to Nintendo Switch
Nintendo plans to release remasters of “almost all” Super Mario Bros. games this year. Several new Super Mario games would also be released. Nintendo would use this year for this because of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros.
Multiple sources tell Video Games Chronicle that Nintendo plans to hold an event around the anniversary. There, the new releases of the Super Mario games for the Switch would be announced. Nintendo is also set to release several other Mario titles this year, including a new game in the Paper Mario series. It is not clear what other games will come.
Nintendo has not responded substantively to the rumor, but Eurogamer largely confirms VGC’s findings. According to sources from that site, at least Super Mario Galaxy is one of the games coming to Switch. There would also be ‘a number of other’ 3D games from the Mario series to the Switch. Eurogamer also reports that a Deluxe version of Super Mario 3D World is on the way.
According to VGC, Nintendo will also announce more about the partnership with Universal at the event. The two companies are working on a Super Nintendo World theme park and an animated Super Mario movie. The announcements were supposed to take place at an event during E3 in June, but that show has been canceled. It is not known what Nintendo’s new plans are. The company could give a digital presentation.
