Facebook gives Messenger support for multiple accounts

Facebook has made it possible to let multiple users log in to the Messenger application. This should be useful, for example, for family members who jointly use an Android device.

In a Facebook post, the social networking site announced that users of the Messenger app are getting an update to support multiple accounts. In the settings it is possible to link multiple accounts to the app, after which they are shown in a list. Users can only see their own posts; those of others are not visible by default. However, everyone can see how many notifications each user has.

Linking multiple accounts within the Messenger app should especially be a solution for family members and others who use a mobile device together. For now, the new feature is only available to Android users, who receive the update automatically or can install the application via Google Play. A version for iOS is currently being tested.
