Download Caliber 0.8.68

Like almost every Friday, a new version of Caliber has been released. Caliber is an open source and cross platform ebook management program. Among other things, it can copy e-books to and from readers and convert them to make them suitable for the various types of e-readers. It can also convert newspapers, magazines and news articles based on RSS feeds to e-book format, and books can be purchased from well-known web stores. The changelog of release 0.8.68 looks like this:

New Features

• Drivers for the Nokia N9, Viewsonic 7e, Prestigio PER3274B and Coby Kyros 7035
• Add a tutorial on creating catalogs to the User Manual and a link to it in the create catalogs dialog
• Wireless device connections: Add an option to force caliber to listen on a particular IP address. Access it by customizing the plugin in Preferences->Plugins
• Android driver: Add an extra customization option to configure the directory to which ebooks are sent on the storage cards.
• Add an option under Preferences->Look & Feel->Book Details to hide the cover in the book details panel
• The Caliber Companion Android app that allows wireless connection of Android device to caliber is out of beta. see [External link]

Bug Fixes

• Fix sorting by author not working in the device view in caliber when connected to iTunes
• Fix using the ‘configure this device’ menu action not validating settings
• Device drivers: Ignore corrupted entries in metadata.calibre, instead of raising an error
• PDF Output: Do not error out when generating an outline which points to pages that have been removed.
• PDF Output: Fix incorrect page numbers being generated in the outline when converting some books
• PDF Output: Reduce memory consumption when writing out the PDF file, by using a stream
• EPUB metadata: When there are multiple tags use the one with the earliest date as the published date
