Samsung shipped more than 6.7 million 5G smartphones in 2019
Samsung reports that it shipped more than 6.7 million Galaxy 5G smartphones last year. The Korean company claims that with its five 5G devices released in November, it held more than half of the market share of 5G smartphones.
Samsung has reached 6.7 million with its 5G smartphones Galaxy S10 5G, Note10 5G, Note10+ 5G, Galaxy A90 5G and Galaxy Fold 5G. In November 2019, the company represented 53.9 percent of the global 5G smartphone market. Samsung relies on figures from Counterpoint Research for this. It concerns deliveries, not sales, although the deliveries can be an indication of sales.
During the 2019 IFA trade show, Samsung announced that it had shipped 2 million 5G smartphones and said it expected to ship 4 million units in 2019. Since then, for example, the midrange device A90 with 5g has appeared. According to Counterpoint, 5G devices accounted for 1 percent of the total smartphone market in 2019. This percentage is expected to grow significantly in 2020 as more 5G smartphones appear. At the end of December, Samsung announced that it would introduce its first tablet with 5G in the first quarter of 2020: the Galaxy Tab S6 5G.
