Renders show Pixel 4A smartphone with single camera and 3.5mm jack
Renders have appeared showing the suspected design of the Pixel 4A. The images show a camera island with a single lens, a selfie camera that is incorporated into a hole in the screen and a 3.5 mm jack for audio. Google would announce the device during I/O 2020.
The renders are published by 91mobiles in association with OnLeaks, a Twitter user creating realistic renders of upcoming smartphones. He does this on the basis of CAD files, with the result that many of his renders correspond almost exactly to the final smartphones. For example, he already shared renders of the Pixel 4 XL in September. Those renders later turned out to be almost exactly correct.
The back of the Pixel 4A contains a square camera island, similar to that of the regular Pixel 4. The Pixel 4A also contains a single camera, where the Pixel 4 has two camera sensors. Incidentally, 91mobiles states that the camera module can eventually accommodate more sensors, but it is unclear what exactly is meant by this. The back of the device also contains a fingerprint scanner, something that was missing in the Pixel 4.
The screen of the Pixel 4A would have a diagonal of 5.7″ or 5.8″, according to OnLeaks, but it is still unknown whether it is an OLED screen or an LCD. The selfie camera of the smartphone is incorporated in a hole in the screen, so that the screen edges of the device are smaller than those of the regular Pixel 4. The 4A also does not seem to contain a soli radar, with which the device does not support gesture control. An infrared camera for facial recognition also seems to be absent.
Furthermore, the Pixel 4A has a USB-c connection for charging and a 3.5 mm jack for audio, something that was also absent in the more expensive Pixel 4. According to 91mobiles, the device will be available in three colors, namely black, white, and Violet. It is stated that Google may also come up with other colors, such as orange. Further specifications are not yet known, but the device would have at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Google will probably present the smartphone during Google I/O 2020 in the first half of next year.
