Download ClamWin 0.88.2.3

Just over a week after the release of ClamWin 0.88.2.1, the developers of the antivirus program released a new version of the program. The new version has version number 0.88.2.3 and can be downloaded as installation package and zip file. ClamWin is a GPL-provided passive antivirus for the Windows platform and uses the Clam AntiVirus engine. The program is able to check a computer for the presence of viruses and spyware and remove the viruses and spyware found from the system. ClamWin is not equipped with an active scanner, so the scanning procedure has to be started manually. it is also possible to start scanning at a specific day and time via the built-in scheduler. Version 0.88.2.3 has the following changes:

ClamWin Free Antivirus release 0.88.2.3 fixes a potential security issue with scanning of archived files. The details are:

• Zip, Rar and other archives were not properly unpacked if a user didn’t have write permissions in the root folder (C:\). This bug only appeared if a user was not an administrator of Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003 systems.
• This release also sets “Detect Broken Executables” option to “No” due to high volume or false positives.
• Previous bug fix release 0.88.2.2 did not remove some of the temporary files and has been promptly replaced with this release.
