Gamescom will be physical and online event this year

Gamescom will take place this year from August 24 to 28 as a physical and online event, the organization has announced. The fair in the German city of Cologne has been canceled for the past two years due to the corona pandemic.

The fair is taking measures to prevent infections during the fair, the organization says. For example, there will be digital queues at the physical event, the aisles are extra wide and the organization limits the number of tickets sold to prevent extreme crowds.

In addition, there will be a large online offer at the time of the fair. What that will look like exactly is not yet known. In addition, the organization expresses the ambition to make the event a co2-neutral fair in the long term. For the time being, this is mainly done by planting trees in the Gamescom forest near Bayreuth and a collaboration with ClimatePartner. The fair also asks for voluntary donations from visitors and exhibitors. The fair will take place from 24 to 28 August; the time of year that the fair in Cologne for corona usually also took place.
