Discord and Spotify outage causes problems on Tuesday evening – update
Users are reporting connectivity issues with both Spotify and Discord on Tuesday evening. It is not clear whether the failures are related. It doesn’t seem to be a major internet outage.
On social media, users worldwide are reporting problems with Spotify and Discord. With the music streaming service, music stopped playing properly for some users. Discord seems to be having issues sending messages.
Spotify confirmed that there were problems playing music on Tuesday evening. Also at Discord they are aware of the issues† The status page of Discord shows that it is a malfunction of the API.
Based on reports on All Disruptions, peaks can be seen for more services, although there are relatively fewer reports there than with Spotify and Discord. It is therefore difficult to say whether it is a major internet outage or just problems at these two companies.
Update 20:50: Spotify reports that everything should work properly again. The company is not reporting what caused the outage. Discord indicates on its status page that it is restoring its service.
The cause is still unclear. The major cloud providers have not reported major outages, as has been the case with recent internet outages. Only Google Cloud shows two notifications on its status page, but all services appear to be operational.
