Alleged photos of smaller Playstation 3 appeared online
Photos on a Brazilian blog supposedly show a smaller version of the Playstation 3. Accompanying documents reveal that three models of the console will be released, with different amounts of storage space.
Photos have appeared on the Brazilian Tecnoblog that presumably show a new smaller version of the Playstation 3. The photos were submitted to the Brazilian Telecommunications Agency Anatel. Requesting the documents from Anatel results in a letter stating that the submitted photos may not be viewed until the product is launched. This letter does confirm that three models will be released.
The photos show a console with a Playstation 3 logo. The top is ribbed, with a smooth front and back. It is unclear where the optical drive is located, the discs may have to be inserted at the top.
A letter that is accessible states that the three models will become part of the 4000 series. The models are called CECH-4011A, CECH-4011B and CECH-4011C and have hard drives with 16GB, 250GB and 500GB storage space respectively.
Documents submitted to the Federal Communications Commission earlier this month also pointed to the arrival of a smaller Playstation 3. The successor to the PS3, the Playstation 4, has also been in development since August 2010.
