Rockstar Unveils Graphics Modes PS5 And Xbox Series Version GTA V And GTA Online
Rockstar Games reveals in a blog post that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online will be getting three graphics modes. In addition, the company shows the first screenshots of the upcoming versions of the games.
Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online can be played on current-gen consoles with three graphics presets, namely Fidelity, Performance and Performance RT mode. In a blog post, Rockstar explains that Fidelity Mode is aiming for 30fps at 4k resolution. In this mode, ray tracing is enabled and the games apply all other new graphics settings. Performance Mode upscales GTA V and GTA Online from 1080p to 4k. This mode omits ray tracing and should be good for 60fps with an upscaled 4k resolution. Finally, Rockstar promises a middle ground in which the upscaled resolution to 4k is used, but ray tracing is enabled. Also in this case 60 fps must be achieved.
In addition, at the time of writing, GTA V players will be able to start transferring their Story Mode save to the Rockstar Games Social Club servers. The last-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V allows players to choose the Upload Save Game option from the game menu. Everyone can upload only one save file per platform and this file will be available for 90 days.
GTA Online has a slightly different migration process where players simply need to boot into the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X or S version of the game starting March 15. When logging into a current-gen console, all characters, assets, vehicles, GTA$ and all other aspects of the progression are transferred. This can only be done once and cannot be reversed. The account transfer works between both Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Users who purchased GTA$ for real money will lose the purchased in-game money if they switch from Xbox One to PlayStation 5 or from PlayStation 4 to Xbox Series X or S.
