Intel and AMD confirm in separate statements that they will no longer supply products to Russia and Belarus. Intel has also launched a campaign for donations to help those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Intel declares it condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and calls on the chipmaker to immediately end the war. The company reports that it has launched a donation campaign through Intel Foundation that has already raised $1.2 million in aid. Teams in Germany, Poland and Romania are said to provide assistance to refugees from Ukraine.

AMD reports that it has ceased sales and distribution of products in Russia and Belarus. “It concerns all AMD products and products with AMD, such as PCs,” the company reports to PC World. The delivery stop comes as no surprise. Last week, the US imposed sanctions related to, among other things, the supply of tech products.

The Semiconductor Industry Association stated at the time that the US semiconductor industry would abide by the sanctions. Chipmakers such as TSMC and GlobalFoundries also confirmed that they were restricting the export of chip products to Russia. However, AMD and Intel did not release any statements with their position at the time. Russia is not a big buyer of chips. According to the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics, the country is responsible for less than 0.1 percent of global chip purchases.
