Honor introduces Earbuds 3 Pro earplugs that can measure body temperature
Honor introduces its Earbuds 3 Pro. These earplugs have a built-in sensor that can measure the body temperature of users. The Earbuds 3 Pro will cost 199 euros. It is not yet known when they will be released.
Honor announced the Earbuds 3 Pro with body temperature sensors at MWC. Users can tap the earbuds three times to activate temperature readings, according to Honor. This refers to continuous measurements, whereby a warning can be given if the temperature is ‘abnormal’. Honor does indicate that the temperature sensors are not intended for medical purposes. According to the company, internal testing showed an “80 percent chance” of readings with an error of 0.3ºC or less.
The earplugs also have 11mm drivers and active noise cancellation. The manufacturer states that the Earbuds 3 Pro last up to 6 hours on a single battery charge. The charging case can stretch this up to 24 hours. Honor also says that after a 5-minute charge, the earbuds can be used to listen to music for up to 2 hours.
Other companies also seem to be looking at incorporating health features into wireless earplugs. For example, The Wall Street Journal wrote in October that Apple is exploring the possibilities of AirPods that can measure body temperature. The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also spoke earlier about AirPods with health functions. Apple is rumored to be launching new AirPods Pro in the fourth quarter, which may also include fitness tracking features.
