Nubia introduces RedMagic 7 series with fast charging up to 135W and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

Nubia has announced its RedMagic 7 and RedMagic 7 Pro smartphones. The RedMagic 7 gets a 165Hz AMOLED screen and the Pro variant supports 135W fast charging. The phone will be released in China this month and a global version will follow later.

Nubia writes in a press release that the RedMagic 7 has a 6.8 “amoled screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz, a full HD+ resolution and a touch sampling rate of 720Hz. The smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 soc from Qualcomm. The phone has 8 or 12 GB Lpddr5 memory and up to 512 GB storage. The RedMagic 7 also has a 4500 mAh battery that supports 120 W fast charging. According to the manufacturer, the battery can be fully charged in 17 minutes.

The phone also gets a built-in, active cooling system with an RGB fan that can reach a maximum speed of 20,000 rpm. In addition, the Chinese manufacturer releases a cooling accessory that also contains a fan and can be placed on the back of the smartphone. The phone also gets a USB-C connection, Wi-Fi 6, shoulder buttons for gaming, stereo speakers and a 3.5mm jack for audio. The back of the device houses a primary 64-megapixel camera, an 8-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide angle lens and a macro sensor with a resolution of 2 megapixels. The phone comes with Android 12.

A variant with 8GB memory and 128GB storage costs 3899 yuan in China, Gizmochina also writes. Converted and with VAT, that comes down to about 655 euros. The most expensive variant with 512GB storage and 12GB memory costs, converted and including VAT, about 923 euros. The phone will not be available worldwide until later and Nubia does not share official euro prices yet.

RedMagic 7 Pro with separate ‘gaming chip’

Nubia also introduces a RedMagic 7 Pro, which shows great similarities with the ‘normal’ RedMagic 7. The screen of the phone does get a lower 120Hz refresh rate, although the touch sampling rate is increased to 960Hz. The battery is 5000mAh larger than the regular version and supports 135W fast charging.

The Pro version will also receive a Red Core 1 ‘gaming chip’, which according to Nubia should improve the shoulder buttons, vibrations, ‘game lighting effects’ and sound effects. The manufacturer also shares few details about this chip. Furthermore, the RedMagic 7 Pro gets a selfie camera that is located under the screen. The phone comes with Android 12, 12GB, 16GB or 18GB memory and up to 1TB storage.

A Pro variant with 12GB of memory and 128GB of storage costs 4799 yuan in China, which amounts to about 800 euros. The most expensive model with 18GB ram and 1TB storage costs about 1258 euros. When exactly the phones will be available in Europe and what they will officially cost here is still unknown.
