Silicon Power XS70 SSDs have read speed up to 7.3GB/s and capacity up to 4TB
Silicon Power introduces the Xpower XS70 series of PCIe 4.0 SSDs in M.2 2280 form factor. There will be variants of 1TB, 2TB and 4TB with read and write speeds of up to 7.3GB/s and 6.8GB/s respectively. The SSDs have a heatsink and are suitable for the PlayStation 5.
According to Silicon Power, the XS70 SSD family consists of PCIe Gen 4×4 SSDs with NVMe 1.4 support. The manufacturer does not say which controller and which type of nand memory the SSDs contain. Silicon Power does mention the presence of dram cache.
Silicon Power only mentions the theoretical maximum read and write speed. The Taiwanese manufacturer does not provide details about iops performance on its site. Also, the company does not provide details about the exact speeds per execution. The brand does emphasize that the SSDs, including the supplied heatsink, can be used in PlayStation 5 consoles.
It is not yet known what the XS70 SSDs will cost and when they will be available. Manufacturers such as Samsung, WD, Seagate, Corsair, XPG, Gigabyte, Lexar, Kingston, MSI, PNY, and Patriot have previously released PCIe Gen 4×4 SSDs with comparable speeds. Such SSDs currently have prices from around 150 euros for 1TB versions. The 2TB and 4TB variants are in the Pricewatch from around 300 and 900 euros.
