Intel: Alder Lake CPU DRM issues resolved for all games

Intel has once again updated its list of games that are incompatible with Intel’s Alder Lake CPUs due to DRM software. According to the company, all DRM problems with its new processors have now been solved on Windows 11 and Windows 10.

Intel reports on its support website that “the DRM problem on the twelfth generation Intel Core processors” has been solved. To this end, the company says it has collaborated with game developers and Microsoft. “At this point, all games that were originally identified as having this DRM issue have been fixed through game patches or OS updates,” the company said. Therefore, users are recommended to install the latest Windows updates.

Initially, 91 games didn’t work directly with Intel’s Alder Lake CPUs, although that number was already reduced to two last month; only Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Fernbus Simulator didn’t work yet, but the problems with those games have now also been solved.

The problem was caused by the hybrid design of the Alder Lake processors; In addition to performance-oriented P-cores, Intel also introduced energy-efficient E-cores in these chips. According to Intel, there was certain DRM software that recognized the E-cores as cores of an additional PC. According to the company, this led to compatibility issues, which caused games to crash. As a temporary workaround, users could temporarily put the E-cores on standby.
