Samsung teaser hints at Galaxy S10 front camera with 4k video and image stabilization

Samsung will probably provide its Galaxy S10 devices with a front camera with a 4k film function and image stabilization. That suggests a teaser video from the manufacturer on YouTube. Another video shows a fingerprint scanner behind the screen.

The video in question is on Samsung Vietnam’s YouTube channel. There is little to see in the video itself, but the title mentions the 4k resolution and the images themselves make it clear that it is about the front camera. It also says ‘professional vibrations’ in the title, which is probably about image stabilization. It is not clear whether Samsung uses optical or electronic stabilization.

Although the 4k resolution is mentioned, it is not certain whether Samsung also refers to 4k video. In theory, it is possible that Samsung indicates the photo resolution with 4k. That seems unlikely, though, as photo resolutions are commonly referred to in megapixels. The 4k resolution corresponds to about 8 megapixels. The Nokia 8 from HMD already has a front camera with a 4k movie function, but it has no stabilization.

It is not yet clear which Galaxy S10 models will receive the 4k front camera. The functionality may not be in the Galaxy S10e, the cheapest model that will be released this year. That version, for example, does not have a fingerprint scanner behind the screen. The other S10 models do have such a hidden fingerprint scanner and Samsung Vietnam also shows that in a teaser video. A third video seems to be about wireless charging.
