Sony announces event presumably before XZ4 smartphone announcement

Sony has announced an event where the manufacturer will probably present its new XZ4 smartphones. The event takes place at the opening of the telecom fair Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The invitation seems to show a device from the side, but there is little to distract from the image in the invitation. Sony holds an event every year at the opening of the telecom fair Mobile World Congress, often at its own stand. Last year, the manufacturer announced the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact there.

Presumably, Sony will present its XZ4 phones there. Renders of the XZ4 and XZ4 Compact have already appeared. Despite those renders, many tech sites have concluded in recent days that Sony would discontinue Compact phones after a Sony Mobile executive said in an interview with Digital Trends that “there is always room for multiple sizes, but people want more screen space for their content now.” That conclusion seems premature: the quote that there is room for multiple formats seems to indicate that Sony is continuing the Compact series. In addition, the manufacturer would have probably explicitly wanted to say that the series will cease to exist, because there are relatively many lovers of the small Sony smartphones.
