Samsung presents Galaxy A70 smartphone with 4500mAh battery
Samsung has presented the Galaxy A70, a midrange smartphone with a 4500mAh battery. The device has a 6.7-inch OLED screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9, longer than the screens on Samsung phones to date.
The 6.7″ OLED screen with 2400×1080 pixels shows 16:9 content with a diagonal of 5.6″, while the display at the top has a cutout for the 32-megapixel front camera, Samsung says. The phone measures 164.3×76.7mm and is 7.9mm thick. In that housing is the 4500mAh battery, larger than in other Galaxy A phones. The phone supports 25W fast charging.
The primary camera on the back has a maximum resolution of 32 megapixels and a lens with an aperture of f/1.7. In addition, the South Korean manufacturer also places in this phone an ultra-wide-angle camera that offers an angle of view of 123 degrees, just like in the Galaxy S10 models. The third camera on the back is only for estimating depth and is not used to make footage.
The A70 has a fingerprint scanner behind the screen. Like the A50, it is probably an optical variant, a less secure version of the ultrasonic scanner from the Galaxy S10 series. The device runs on an undisclosed octacore soc, although the specs match those of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 670, which Samsung also uses in the Galaxy Tab S5e.
Samsung has not announced when the A70 will be released and at what price. That will probably happen in two weeks, if the South Korean manufacturer holds an event at which it will announce more Galaxy A phones. This year, Samsung already announced several phones in this series, including the A20e, A30, A40 and A50.
