At an Apple event in Cupertino, the company announced a new service called Apple Arcade. The service forms a new section in the App Store and revolves around mobile games that can be played on multiple devices.

Apple Arcade will initially consist of over a hundred different mobile games, which are not available on any other platform. From the fall, Sega’s Sonic Team Racing will be available, as will the Lego Brawls game. According to Apple, this number of more than a hundred games is gradually being expanded.

With this subscription service, the available games on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV can be played. Users can continue playing from where they left off on another device. The use of controllers is possible with many games.

The service does not require payment per game and all games from the Apple Arcade catalog can be downloaded immediately. So it is not a streaming service. All content from the games is available, future updates are free and additional in-game purchases are not possible. Ads are not part of Apple Arcade and playing without an internet connection is possible.

During the presentation, the Cupertino company announced that Apple Arcade will be available in more than 150 countries and regions around the world this fall. No further explanation was given and no price information is available yet.
