Nubia has unveiled the Nubia Alpha at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The company presents this device as a ‘portable’ smartphone. In fact, it is a cross between a smartphone and a smartwatch that is worn on the wrist like a smartwatch.

The Nubia Alpha has a flexible, bendable OLED screen with a diagonal of 4 “and a resolution of 960 x 192 pixels. The manufacturer states that this equates to 230 percent more screen area compared to ‘standard wearable screens’, which the company uses on smartwatches. means.

The smartwatch has a Snapdragon Wear 2100-soc from Qualcomm and a 500mAh battery that would allow a standby time of 48 hours. Quick Charge is supported, although it is not clear which version it concerns. There is also 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

Depending on the thickness of the user’s wrist, the screen will extend approximately over the entire top and to the side of the wrist. There is support for an unnamed voice assistant and gesture recognition. Furthermore, the smartwatch can serve as a fitness tracker, where, for example, a sleep tracker is also present and the heart rhythm can be monitored.

Nubia has built into the Alpha a front-facing camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels, an angle of view of 82 degrees and an aperture of f/2.2. There is also support for WiFi, Bluetooth and E-SIM. The e-sim version of the Alpha supports 4g. According to the company, the Alpha is water resistant and the screen has been tested for over 100,000 bends. There are therefore two versions, whereby the bluetooth version must be paired with a smartphone.

The smartwatch is made of stainless steel and comes in a black or gold version. When the smartwatch will be released exactly this year is not yet known, but it is clear that the black bluetooth model costs 449 euros and the black e-sim version will have a price tag of 549 euros. The gold-colored e-sim version costs 649 euros.
