Superman actor Henry Cavill plays Geralt in The Witcher series for Netflix
Henry Cavill, who played the role of Superman in the 2013 film Man of Steel, will play the lead role in the series that Netflix is making of The Witcher. The eight-episode series will not be released before 2020.
Lauren Schmid Hissrich, series producer, welcomes Cavill to the team through a tweet. She says that the choice for the actor was already made four months ago, when the series was given the green light, but there was no script yet. “He’s Geralt. He’s always been,” said the producer.
The British actor first played the role of Superman in the 2013 film Man of Steel. In 2016 he did that again in the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Cavill was also allowed to put on his Superman suit again for the 2017 film Justice League.
In April, some details about the Netflix series were announced. It turned out that the series will have eight episodes and the producer says that the series may be released in 2020. Eight episodes with a lot of action and story are offered.
The Witcher series was announced late last year. It is a series based on the eight books by the Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, with Geralt of Rivia in the lead role. The series is not directly related to the games, but the games of the same name created by CD Projekt Red are also based on the books. The writer is involved in the production of the series.
