Rumour: New Red Magic gaming smartphone gets active cooling and 90Hz screen
Nubia is said to provide its third Red Magic smartphone with a fan in the case to cool the Snapdragon 855-soc. The device also gets a screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz.
Journalist Roland Quandt shares the information in a tweet. He regularly comes out with information about new hardware before the official announcement. According to Quandt, the fan can be heard when it is running. The fan can probably be switched on and off, so that it can be activated when the soc is heavily loaded. So far, no smartphones with built-in active fans have been released. Asus did come up with an external fan for its ROG Phone that can be clicked onto the device.
Quandt also shows a screenshot of the screen settings. This shows that the panel is adjustable to 90Hz. There is also a choice for 60Hz, which would extend the battery life and an option ‘automatic’ where the screen adjusts the refresh rate to the content being displayed. It is not known whether it is an OLED panel or an LCD. The resolution would be 2340×1080 pixels.
Nubia was set to release its third Red Magic Mars on April 28 in China. According to Quandt, a worldwide release will follow sometime in May. Nubia has been selling its Red Magic Mars gaming smartphones through its own website in the Benelux since February.
