Ten-minute video shows BlackBerry Passport with Android
A 10-minute video has surfaced online of the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition running a variant of Android Lollipop. There is, among other things, a ‘widescreen’ option for apps that do not support the square screen of the Passport.
The widescreen option can be found in the toggles menu that appears when retrieving the notifications with a swipe down from the notification bar. The Passport with Android includes Google apps on board, according to the video that Duda Rocha Tec has put online.
The device identifies itself as BlackBerry Oslo, a name the Passport Silver Edition had before it was called Dallas. In any case, it is not about the Venice, the slider that would come out with Android and of which images surfaced in recent weeks.
BlackBerry previously said it would make an Android device if it could make a secure Android. It is unknown when or if BlackBerry will announce Android devices. Moreover, it is unclear whether this only concerns the slider or whether users of a Passport could also install Android.
