US team wins $6.6 million in Dota 2 tournament
The American team Evil Geniuses has won the Dota 2 tournament The International 2015. The winners will receive a total of 6.6 million dollars, currently around 6 million euros. The prize pool totaled around $18 million.
Evil Geniuses came out on top in the tournament with a total of eighteen participants, reports the Dota 2 twitter account. The team faced the Chinese team CDEC in the final and won the best of five 3-1.
Last year’s winner, Newbee, went out first this time, which quickly made it clear that The International would have a new winner in 2015. The prize pool, the largest to date, has largely been raised by the Dota community, with publisher Valve themselves putting $1.6 million into the pot. The International was fought in Seattle’s Key Arena, a venue that seats 17,000.
