Project Cars for Wii U seems to have been canceled

From the words of the head of the development team behind Project Cars, it can be concluded that the game is unable to run smoothly on the Wii U and that that version has been scrapped. The team had previously reported issues with the Wii U version.

Ian Bell, head of the team working on Project Cars at Slighty Mad Studios, told Nintendo Life that “Project Cars is simply too much for Wii U.” He adds that the team is waiting for new hardware announcements from Nintendo, with which Bell suggests that the game may not be definitively released for Wii U, but may still be on the market for a successor. That could be the NX, the new console that Nintendo is developing, but details about the NX are not yet available so it is not even known what kind of device it is.

It is not the first time that Slighty Mad has indicated that it has problems with the version for Wii U. Bell already let go in May that the team could not go further than 23 fps with 720p images. He thought that was too little for a release on Nintendo’s console. Incidentally, Slighty Mad has never officially announced the Wii U version. The studio has always held back, saying that the Wii U version ‘might’ be coming. The studio did announce in late June that it was working on Project Cars 2.
