Microsoft Releases Visual Studio 2015 and .Net 4.6
Microsoft has released Visual Studio 2015 and .Net 4.6. The biggest change in Visual Studio is that developers can create apps not only for Windows Phone, but also for iOS and Android. That support is part of Microsoft’s philosophy of building a “universal platform.”
Visual Studio 2015 and .Net 4.6 have been available for download since Monday evening, Microsoft reports. All changes for Visual Studio are in the changelog that the company has also put online. Users can develop apps for iOS and Android from Visual Studio, where the software also has an Android emulator on board based on Hyper-V and has access to debug tools for the mobile platforms.
Software for OS X and Linux can also be written with Microsoft’s programming development environment. The programming languages Python, ASP.Net or Node.js can be used for this. Game developers gain access to engines such as Unity and Unreal via Microsoft’s development environment. In addition, Microsoft also releases .Net 4.6, which includes support for http/2.
The Community version of Visual Studio 2015 is free of charge, for the Professional edition developers have to pay 1199 dollars, which is currently around 1107 euros. The Enterprise-with-MSDN edition costs $5999. If you already have the 2013 version, you can update to the 2015 version free of charge, according to Microsoft.
