Rumor: Samsung will present Galaxy Note 5 in mid-August

Samsung would like to present its Galaxy Note 5 as early as mid-August, in order to prevent a new iPhone from overshadowing the presentation of Samsung’s major phones. Samsung has presented its Note devices at the IFA electronics fair for the past four years.

It seems that someone at Samsung wanted the news out in time: business newspaper The Wall Street Journal and news agency Reuters published the information at almost the same time. Both articles do not state an exact date, but indicate mid-August as the period for the presentation.

Both articles do not mention whether Samsung will present several products in addition to the Note 5. There have been rumors for months about a round smartwatch from the South Korean manufacturer and a larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge, called Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Samsung would like to bring the presentation forward to get ahead of Apple. Apple is expected to present its new presumed iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus at the end of August and release it in September. Both companies have not yet made any announcements about when they will present their new products.
