Rumor: Apple will release its own credit card in August

Apple is said to be planning to launch its own credit card as early as next month. The company is collaborating with the American bank Goldman Sachs for this. iPhone owners receive standard credit card support from Apple through Wallet.

Apple itself has not released anything about the exact release date, but the usually well-informed news agency Bloomberg says it has heard from sources that the Apple credit card is still to be released in the first half of August. That will only be for US users. Apple itself keeps it on its website ‘this summer’.

Apple has partnered with Goldman Sachs to develop the credit card, and the two companies have shared development responsibilities. For example, Apple is said to have been involved in the design of the credit card and the software for iPhones, while Goldman Sachs developed the underlying architecture for the payment system. Not everything would have gone smoothly: Apple would have been dissatisfied with some of Goldman Sachs’ activities, although this does not seem to have prevented the release of the credit card.

The credit card is primarily intended for iPhone users, who receive support for the Apple debit card through Wallet. In addition, there are no costs involved, and you can pay digitally via Apple Pay. Apple has also set up a cashback program for credit card payments.
