Google puts full functionality Picasa Web Albums back online

Google has quietly put full Picasa Web Albums back online. Part of the photo storage service disappeared in 2013 in favor of Google’s own social network Google+, but now the site with photos is back online in its entirety. Whether this will remain so is unknown.

Those who wanted to use the search function in Picasa Web Albums, for example, quickly ended up with Google+ in recent years. Despite Google’s new photo service with Photos, Picasa Web Albums appears to be back to normal, notes Google Operating System.

Picasa Web Albums appears to be sharing the photos with the recently released Google Photos. Web Albums and Photos seem to contain at least the same photos, including recent ones. It is unknown why Google has put the site back in full working order and whether it will remain so.
