The Chinese hacker group TaiG has released an untethered jailbreak tool for Windows that can crack iPhones and iPads running iOS 8.3. There is no jailbreak tool yet for users running OS X.

TaiG, which has released jailbreaks before, states that before a jailbreak can be performed, an iOS device must first be backed up via iTunes or iCloud. The hackers also warn that some plug-ins will not work after the jailbreak, because the Cydia Substrate component has not yet been made compatible with iOS 8.2 and 8.3. Whether there will also be an OS X version is not entirely clear.

The jailbreak makes it possible to install third-party software on iOS 8.3 devices that is not authorized by Apple. Via Cydia, users can download packages to install tweaks, mods, themes and apps.
