Valve: Steam users can request a refund
From now on, Valve will refund Steam users the purchase amount if it turns out that a game does not work properly. That is stated on a new policy page that was put online on Tuesday. However, there are some caveats.
For example, the game must have been purchased less than 14 days ago. Also, it must not have been played for more than two hours. Once these conditions can be met, players may request a refund for any reason, according to Valve.
As for in-game purchases, Steam users can get a refund within 48 hours of purchase, provided it’s a game developed by Valve itself. Also, the purchased item may not have been used, modified or moved. The same rules apply to games from third-party developers, depending on the choice of the publisher.
Furthermore, buyers of games that have not yet been released will get their money back at any time until the release. After that, according to Valve, the same rules apply as when a game is normally purchased; refund will then be made again within fourteen days and with less than two hours of playing time. Finally, whoever has been banned from a game will never get his purchase amount back.
