The mmog WildStar will be a free-to-play title next fall, Ncsoft and Carbine Studios have announced. By abolishing the obligation to pay subscription fees, the makers hope to tempt more gamers.

WildStar, which still has to be paid monthly, will use a free-to-play model. Players will not be restricted in the free part of the game, but there will be a virtual store where various items can be purchased for regular euros. There are also still subscriptions with which, among other things, experience points can be obtained faster.

To reward existing WildStar players, they get more perks in a loyalty program if they choose to keep their subscription. According to the makers, WildStar should bring in more new gamers with the new revenue model.
