Rumor: Apple will update 27″ iMac and 15″ MacBook Pro on Wednesday
Apple is reportedly planning to update its 27″ iMac and 15.4″ MacBook Pro on Wednesday. The products may get new processors and the MacBook Pro would also be equipped with a Force Touch trackpad.
The rumor comes from Macg, which correctly announced the arrival of new Mac minis last year. Details on the new 27″ iMac and 15.4″ MacBook Pro were not disclosed by the site. It seems likely that the 15.4″ laptop will get Apple’s new Force Touch trackpad, just like the 13″ MacBook Pro and new MacBook will have.
In addition, it seems logical that the systems get new processors. If the iMac and MacBook Pro do indeed appear on Wednesday, it will be striking as far as processors are concerned. The last generation of Intel processors is of the Broadwell generation, but Intel has so far only announced economical dual-cores in that line. The introduction of the Broadwell quad-cores and ‘regular voltage’ dual-cores is expected during the Computex fair, but it will not start until early June. Since Apple never publishes part numbers of the chips used, it is also possible that the new iMac and 15.4″ MacBook Pro will appear in the Apple Store this week.
