British police arrest 17-year-old hacker in connection with Rockstar and Uber hack
The City of London Police, in conjunction with the FBI, have arrested a 17-year-old hacker. It would be the same person who previously claimed responsibility for the leaking of GTA 6 images and the intrusion of Uber.
The London Police has only announced so far that a 17-year-old person has been arrested on suspicion of hacking. Ex-Reuters journalist Matt Keys however, reports that the arrest is linked to the cyber attack on Rockstar Games “and possibly also Uber Technologies”. After the cyber attack on Uber said the taxi service in a statement that it is probably an attack by hacker group Lapsus$ and that there are indications that the same group is behind the attack on Rockstar Games.
It is not the first time that a minor has been arrested by the British police for possible involvement in Lapsus$. At the beginning of this year, seven suspects between the ages of 17 and 21 were arrested. They would have been involved in several criminal activities, carried out under the name Lapsus$. It was also then announced that the group’s leader would be a 16-year-old Briton. It is not known to what extent there is overlap between previous arrests and the arrest of the 17-year-old suspect last Thursday evening.
