Rumor: iPad Pro gets pressure-sensitive touchscreen

Apple plans to provide the iPad Pro with a new, more sensitive touchscreen. That reports a Korean website. The touch screen should become sensitive to pressure; pressing harder or softer can enable new interactions with the interface.

According to ETNews, it is a silver nanowire screen under the screen, which can register the pressure a user exerts on the screen. For example, in a drawing app, the thickness of a paint brush can increase the moment a user applies more force, according to the website.

A silver nanowire screen also has the advantage, according to ETNews, that the production costs are lower than those of traditional panels, and that fewer screens are lost during production. A pressure-sensitive touchscreen is already on the Apple Watch, and according to previous rumors, a future iPhone should also be equipped with it.
