Pico announces new VR glasses Pico 4
Pico Interactive announces the Pico 4. The VR glasses should be available from October 18 and will have a suggested retail price of 430 euros. The Pico 4 is the successor to the Pico Neo 3 Link that appeared earlier this year.
Pico Interactive brings for the second time this year a new VR headset from. The Pico 4 gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 soc. The 2.56″ LCD screen of the glasses has a resolution of 2160×2160 pixels per eye. The refresh rate can be set to a maximum of 90Hz and the field of view is 105°. With this, the Pico 4 is slightly above the specifications in terms of specifications. The VR glasses cost 430 euros with 128GB of storage. For the version with 256GB, 500 euros must be deposited. The headset can be used wirelessly and is equipped with a 5300mAh battery. Two controllers are supplied with the VR glasses. Pico has its own operating system for its VR glasses: Pico OS. The Pico 4 will also run on this operating system.
The Pico 4 has cameras on the front of the glasses that detect movements of the wearer. That way, no separate cameras or base stations need to be set up to register the wearer’s movements. The surroundings can also be viewed via these cameras while wearing the VR glasses if necessary. In addition, augmented reality applications can be used with this.
Pico Interactive was acquired by ByteDance in 2021. The parent company is mainly known for video platform TikTok, but wants to focus on more markets. With the Pico headsets, the company wants to compete directly with the Quest VR glasses from Meta.
